About the Power of Procurement project
CDP launched the Power of Procurement project in 2016 to increase transparency, accountability and action towards eliminating deforestation from commodity supply chains. With funding from Norway’s International Climate and Forests Initiative (NICF), CDP established a supply chain platformfor forest-risk commodities, bringing together high-impact purchasing organizations with their suppliers across the globe. Focusing on forest-risk commodities produced in Brazil, Peru and Colombia for domestic consumption or export to China and Europe, the project worked to build awareness and capacity among buyers and suppliers, and to foster collaboration between these actors.
Five years on, governments, financial institutions and civil society in these geographies can benefit from improved forests data including corporate commitments, actions, and risks and opportunities, which may be used to identify key areas for driving change.
